Since the team’s inception, the Howe Jets have dominated on the mats winning both divisions in the CPS Elementary Wrestling Championships in our first two years of competition.

In addition to conquering the city, Howe wrestlers have also competed at the state level with three of our wrestlers placing in the 2010 Illinois Freestyle Wrestling State Championships that took place at the University of Illinois at Champaign.

Success in competition is a nice reward for all the hard work put in but the life-skills learned through wrestling are infinitely more important. Our scholar athletes are learning the values of hard work, commitment, and perseverance among others. They are also learning the importance of goal-setting and maintaining a positive attitude while gaining coping strategies to help control their emotions.

It doesn’t matter your size or athletic ability when you start. In wrestling, as in life, hard work will lead to success.
As the legendary wrestler and coach Dan Gable said, “Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy”.
